AI couples therapy, built for two people

Coupleship is an AI relationship guide for couples, grounded in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. You and your partner share one room with it, each of you keeps a private line, and once a day you answer a question sealed. It is not a therapist, and it tells you so.

No card to start · your partner doesn’t have to be ready

  • One room, two people

Both of you write in the same thread, with one guide who has read all of it.

  • A private line inside it

What you say there never reaches your partner, in any form.

Your room open · 10:48pm

In the open. You both see this

We had the same fight about his mother again.

Same fight, or the same feeling underneath it? Last week you said you end up feeling like the outsider.

Just between us. They never see this

I don’t want him to know how much that hurt.

Both of you, not one side

A general chatbot hears one account of a two-person story, told by whoever is most upset. Here you both write in the same room, to the same guide, so it holds both sides instead of taking one.

A private line each

Some things are not ready for the open room. Your private line is a full conversation your partner never sees, not summarised and not hinted at, and it never enters the guide’s context when it is speaking to them.

Honest answers, sealed

Once a day there is a question you each answer alone. Neither answer opens until you have both written, so you say the true thing instead of replying to theirs.

It remembers the story

The same guide, every day, for both of you. It knows the loop you get stuck in and what you said last week, so you are not pasting four years of history into a fresh window.

It starts with just you

Your partner does not have to be ready, or even signed up. Plenty of people talk to the guide alone first and invite their partner later, and nothing is shared until they do.

It knows where it stops

It does not diagnose or treat, and it is not a replacement for a qualified person. On any sign of violence, abuse or self-harm it points you to real help, and that is never behind a paywall.

Is AI couples therapy real therapy?

No, and a serious one should say so up front. What it can do is be there at 11pm, hold both sides of the same story, and help you practise what couples therapists teach. If there is violence, a crisis or a diagnosis in the picture, a licensed therapist is the right place, and the guide will say that too.

Common questions

What is AI couples therapy?

Relationship support delivered by an AI guide rather than a person: it asks questions, helps each partner put feelings into words, notices the pattern you keep repeating and works from established couples methods. Coupleship uses the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Does it work if only one of us uses it?

Yes. You can start on your own and invite your partner whenever you want to. It works best once you are both in the room, because then the guide hears both sides.

Is it private?

Your private line is never shown to your partner and never used when the guide talks to them. Daily answers stay sealed until you have both written, and if one of you never answers, the other answer stays closed for good.

How much does it cost?

Your first week is free, counted from your first message, and you do not need a card to start. After that it is $39 a month for both of you.

Should we see a couples therapist instead?

If there is violence or coercion, if either of you is in acute distress, or if you want a qualified person accountable for your care, yes. Many couples use both: a therapist for the sessions and the guide for the days in between.

Say it here first.

The thing you haven’t found a way to say to them goes to your guide, and stops there. Not summarised, not hinted at, never shown to your partner.
