No composer, on purpose
This line is always mid-conversation. There’s nothing to “start”.

“Only you”, on the screen
The lock and the label are on every private screen, so you always know where you’re writing.
Never, in any form
Not summarised, not hinted at, not “someone raised a concern”. The rule is enforced where it cannot be argued with: private messages never enter the other partner’s view, and never enter the guide’s context when it is speaking to them.
It has its own memory
This is a real ongoing conversation, not a scratchpad. The line remembers what you have told it, so you can pick up where you left off.
A bridge you control
If something you said privately would help out in the open, your guide asks you whether you would like help saying it in your own words. You decide, every time. It never carries anything across on your behalf.
It is there before they are
The private line works from your very first evening, whether or not your partner has joined.
Could my partner ever read it?
No. Private messages are stored on a separate visibility and pass through a single serialisation choke point that decides what any client is allowed to see. It is covered by tests that fail the build if the rule breaks.
