Who writes the journal, and how
The Coupleship journal is for couples who want to understand what is happening between them and try something small about it. Here is who stands behind it.
Who edits it
Ferhat Açıkalın, Founder of Coupleship
Ferhat Açıkalın founded Coupleship, builds the app and edits this journal. He is not a therapist, so the articles lean on published research, mostly from the Gottman Institute, and link to it where a claim is made.
An article carries an editor's name only after that editor has read and approved it. The others are signed by the Coupleship team.
What the articles are based on
Most articles draw on the Gottman Method and on peer-reviewed studies of couples. Prices, insurance rules and provider details come from the provider's or the authority's own pages, and an article that quotes a price says when it was checked.
How sources are checked
Sources are linked where the claim is made, so you can check them yourself. When a figure cannot be confirmed, it is left out rather than guessed.
Not a replacement for therapy
Nothing here replaces a couples therapist, and nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice. If you or your partner are not safe, please use these help lines or your local emergency number.
Spotted a mistake?
Write to [email protected] with the article and what is wrong. A real person reads it, and corrections are made in the article itself.
The next quiet evening is coming.
You need somewhere to say the true thing tonight, and someone on the other end who knows the story.
